What is Skin Rejuvenation?
Skin rejuvenation is term that is used to refer to multiple or series treatments that return your skin to its healthiest, most youthful and glowing condition, no matter your age. It often involves a stepped approach that combines laser treatments for pigmentation, veins and scarring, peels for replenishing new skin, and microneedling for helping the skin naturally produce new collagen.
Laser Photofacial
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is used to treat sun damage, excessive redness, and hyperpigmentation. The face is numbed with a
topical cream to reduce the discomfort of the treatment and is cooled immediately post-treatment to decrease mild redness and swelling. Most patients are able to return to work the same day.
Laser Resurfacing
Skin resurfacing treatments use quick, non-invasive laser technology to create tiny channels in the skin to allow for new collagen production and skin repair. This modality best treats vascular lesions and uneven pigmentation. The best part? There’s minimal, if any, downtime. The area is numbed with a topical cream to reduce the discomfort of the treatment and is cooled immediately post-treatment to decrease mild redness and swelling. Most patients are able to return to work the same day, some experience mild swelling and redness for up to 48 hours.
Scars / Keloids / Stretch Marks
Scars are a natural part of the body’s healing process. A scar results from the biologic process of wound repair in the skin and
other tissues. Most wounds, except for very minor ones, result in some degree of scarring. Scars can result from accidents, diseases, skin conditions such as acne, or surgeries.
How Do Scars Form?
Scars form when the dermis (deep, thick layer of skin) is damaged. The body forms new collagen fibers (a naturally occurring protein in the
body) to mend the damage, resulting in a scar. The new scar tissue will have a different texture and quality than the surrounding tissue. Scars form after a wound is completely healed.
There are different kinds of scars. Most scars are flat and pale. However, in cases when the body produces too much collagen, scars can
be raised. Raised scars are referred to as hypertrophic scars or keloid scars. These scar types are more common in younger and dark-skinned
people. Some scars may have a sunken or pitted appearance; this kind of scarring occurs when underlying structures supporting the skin (for example, fat or muscle) are lost.
These scars result when the skin stretches rapidly (for example, growth spurts or during pregnancy).
Scars also can appear as stretched skin. These scars result when the skin stretches rapidly (for example, growth spurts or during pregnancy). In addition, this type of scar can occur when the skin is under tension (near a joint, for example) during the healing process.

Uneven Skin Tone / Texture
What are causes of uneven skin tone and texture?
The main causes of uneven skin tone are hyperpigmentation, sun spots, hormones and discoloration due to acne scarring. An
excess of melanin or pigment in the skin due to sun exposure creates freckles and eventually, isolated dark spots. Women also tend to develop dark spots from taking contraceptive pills or due to hormone fluctuations during pregnancy. Skin can also sustain damage cumulatively from exposure to pollution and other environmental factors.
SUN EXPOSURE
When skin is repeatedly exposed to UV light, sun damage occurs. Brown spots and uneven skin tone develop as a result of too much melanin being produced to help protect skin from UV light.
POLLUTION
Particles and gases from traffic-related air pollution are able to penetrate the skin and lead to formation of brown spots, particularly on the face.
HORMONES
Melasma is hormone-related hyperpigmentation caused by increased hormone stimulation. It’s most commonly experienced by women who are pregnant (which is why it’s also known as the “mask of pregnancy”) or taking contraceptives, but can also be a reaction to cosmetics or medications.
POST-INFLAMMATORY HYPERPIGMENTATION
This is a darkening of the skin as a result of scarring, which can be caused by acne lesions or skin injury.

Are Dermal Filler Injections Painful?
Dermal fillers are unique in that they feature the local anesthetic lidocaine as one of the ingredients. They are injected in the skin or below the skin to achieve their results and the mixture minimizes any pain associated with the procedure. In addition, other topical anesthetics are available for patient comfort.
